In today’s Daily Deadz we’ve got a zombie prom, they’re recruiting ‘zom-bee’ hunters, then the zombie apocalypse invades your GPS, a zombie shopping spree, and preparing for the zombies will prepare you for just about anything.
In this, the newest form of zombie public relations, I rundown the top zombie themed storiez and newz from around the globe and call it The Daily Deadz.
The idea behind the madness is to bring it all together for you to devour at your convenience throughout the day so you wouldn’t have to scour the streets for your zombie meat, I mean newz, like the savages.
Enough dilly dallin’, let’s get to it…
5. Herald Review reports: Reif Center presents Zombie Prom
“He’s dashing. He’s debonair… He’s dead. But don’t worry, he came back as a zombie to take his girlfriend to the prom. So goes the tale of Jonny Warner (who spells his name without the customary “H”) in the upcoming Reif Center production of “Zombie Prom.” – HR
Aside from numerous plays on words, the play is loaded with references to 1950s pop culture. And more over arching, it’s a show that satirizes both the zombie-phenomena as well as the bubble-gum pop teen love story by, well, mashing them together.
(Check the video of the actual play in the sidebar to the left!)
4. SFBay has an urgent plea: Zombie bee hunters needed
“To better understand just how widespread the zombie bee problem may be, zombeewatch.org calls for residents across the U.S. to keep a close eye out for bees surrounding lights and dead bees near such lights.” – SFBay
(They say that the fly attaches itself to the bee, lays eggs, and a week later the larva bust out fro the bees head and abdomen. Right before death they go crazy, spinning themselves in circles, and drawn uncontrolably to the light.)
3. In this Parallel Zombies interview: We speak with PerBlue about its GPS-enabled …
“Parallel Zombies is a location-based RPG exclusively for Android. We’ve got 15 gruesome types of zombies and nine weapons designed to annihilate them. The game is played out on Google Maps, and players interact in real time with others in their own neighborhood. Players will be encouraged to travel the globe and complete missions at special points of interests, like the White House and Area 51.” – Ellie Humphrey
(It’s like a virtual world layered on top of your world, wherever that is, in which zombies have really invaded. I have not reviewed the game yet, but it has just jumped to the top of the list. Stay tuned.)
2. The Motley Fool published: Zombie Apocalypse or Epic Buying Opportunity?
“We’ve all heard the hype about an impending Zombie Apocalypse. You know, the day when some random nuclear event awakens, animates, and emboldens zombies everywhere. Hungry zombies will roam the countryside in throngs, seeking out that broken-down bus of hapless tourists. The tourists will be stuck in the middle of the woods, it will be either dawn or twilight, and every single one of them will be immobilized with fear. It is the scene that every zombie dreams about because it results in an easy, opportunistic, feeding frenzy. And that is precisely why a Zombie Apocalypse can be eerily analogous to an Epic Buying Opportunity.” – Liz Hoffmann
(It’s true fear sells. That’s why war times have been historically profitable for those that provide supplies. Zombie war = zombie profits.)
1. WIStv publishes: If you can prepare for zombies, you’re ready for anything
“So our plans are based on the unknown out there, whether it’s a weather event, a trauma event, or a zombie attack.” You may scoff, but the CDC sees some logic in that drastic of a plan. “If you can prepare for zombies, you’re ready for anything,” – Dr. Steve Shelton
(A truer statement hasn’t been spoken. Preparation is the key to surviving anything. Let’s drop a little cliche on ya, “Fail to plan, plan to fail.”)
That’s it for today Deadz-Headz.
