Kelsey Grammer and his wife Kayte Walsh are the latest celebrities to appear on Oprah’s Next Chapter. This past Sunday the couple sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss their marriage.
They also delved into how they were dealing with the fallout from his very public and very nasty divorce from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Camille Grammer. Considering Kelsey Grammer was still married to Camille when he took up with Walsh, Walsh has been cast as the “other woman” in the media.
Walsh and Grammer met on a flight between Los Angeles to London while Walsh was working as a flight attendant. Walsh and Grammer now have a daughter together Faith Evangeline Elisa.
Oprah got right to the point when she pointedly asked Walsh “Had you known that it was going to be as public and as much vitriol would you still have stepped into this?” Even though the question was directed at Walsh, Grammer quickly answered, “It’s ok to say you’re not sure”.
Walsh quickly stated that yes she still would have begun the relationship with Grammer “because I love him”. Walsh did admit that the one thing that bothered her was the fact that she was being judged by people who “not knowing anything thing about the truth, just marriage is hard, generally”.
Marriage is extremely hard, especially when it is based on infidelity and lying. Oprah touched on the infidelity by asking Walsh if she knew that Grammer had appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
As if the cheating scandal and Grammer’s vile comments directed at his ex-wife Camille weren’t enough, Walsh herself threw a little salt in Camille’s wounds. She responded to Oprah’s question by indicating she thought the show was Kelsey’s parting gift to Camille.
Grammer again took a pot shot at Camille stating, “I mentioned I was doing that as a going away present”. Walsh responded, “I don’t know. I think the more you’re with someone and you fall in love with them, you say, ‘How could I have been in this situation? How could he have done a reality show when he was saying he loved me and all this stuff?’”
