Metal Gear Solid HD Collection features remastered ports of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. A curious fan asked the developer why Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid game, wasn’t included in the compilation. You can check out some screenshots from the Gamecube game in the slideshow at the top of this article in addition to the response from Sean Eyestone of Kojima Productions in their latest podcast episode below:
That was a remake made by Silicone Knights. We supervised it but we didn’t create it directly and we wanted to make sure that everything in the HD Collection was canon. Everything that goes into there is something created directly by Kojima Productions and Kojima himself. So that is the reason why Twin Snakes was not included in HD Collection.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was released exclusively for the Nintendo Gamecube in North America on March 9, 2004. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection launched for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 8, 2011 in addition to the Playstation Vita on June 12, 2012.
