Labor Day Weekend events on Long Island

This weekend is Labor Day Weekend, the unofficial end to summer and for many a last chance to enjoy summertime fun. Here are some fun events planned for the end of summer celebration throughout Long Island. Check it out:

Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3

66th Annual Shinnecock Powwow, Shinnecock Indian Nation, Southampton

This annual event is a Labor Day Weekend tradition, with all sorts of unique and interesting display of Native American dance, ceremony, cuisine, and much, much more. Check out Shinnecock Indian Nation for more information.

Friday, August 31

Downtown Sounds 2012: Soul Sound Revue, Village Square, Glen and Bridge Streets, Glen Cove

The last in a sizzling summer concert series in the city of Glen Cove features “the hottest Motown show this side of Detroit.” The Soul Sound Revue performs some of the best from the Motor City from the 60’s through the 80’s, including The Four Tops, Temptations, Supremes and more. Evening Tower Tour of the Fire Island Lighthouse, Robert Moses Sate Park, Field 5, Captree Island

Experience the sunset from a whole new point of view as you tour the historic Fire Island Lighthouse at day’s end. Admission is $20 per person, and the tour begins at 6:45 p.m. See the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society for more information.

Late Night at Martha Clara Vineyard, 6025 Sound Ave., Riverhead

The vineyards of Long Island Wine Country are all wonderful places to enjoy, and this Friday Martha Clara of Riverhead is celebrating the rare blue moon in a big way with a very special evening of live music with The Chain Reaction Band and an “under the blue moon summer’s walk” with your family dog. It all starts at 6 p.m., so check out Martha Clara for more.

Saturday, September 1

Comedy Show in Amity Village, The High Note Bar and Lounge, 136 Broadway, Amityville

Four of New York City’s best and brightest comedians will be performing live for a special Labor Day Weekend show at The High Note in Amityville. Join host Jamie Roberts (MTV, NBC, ABC) and comics Kenny Williams, Yamaneika Saunders, Cory Fernandez and John Laster for an awesome evening of pure hilarity. Show time is 8 p.m. and admission is just $10 per person in advance.

Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2

4th Annual Westhampton Festival of the Arts, St. Mark’s Church, 35 Main St., Westhampton Beach

One of the top art festivals in the country happens this weekend in Westhampton Beach, with a wide array of fine artwork. For hours, directions and more, check out the Westhampton Festival of the Arts.

5th Annual Outdoor Craft and Gift Show, Eisenhower Park, Field 8, East Meadow

This annual craft and gift show has something for everyone. The show is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., both days.

Saturday through Monday, September 1-3

Seaford Fall Festival, Seaford LIRR Station, Sunrise Hwy., Seaford

Plenty of vendors at this outdoor festival.

Sunday, September 2

Southampton Antique Fair, White House, 159 Main St., Southampton

Celebrate the End of WWI Day at White House in Southampton, with a wide array of vintage clothing, furniture, artwork and more. The fair begins at 9 a.m.
