Celebrate Freedom Atlanta
Marietta, Georgia – September 1, 2012
Atlanta’s largest free one-day outdoor concert will take place on Saturday during Labor Day weekend at Jim R. Miller Park from about 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. with a fireworks finale. Tickets are free, but required. Singer Amy Grant will be performing live as well as over 10 other performers.
Annual Labor Day Weekend Catfish Festival
Kingsland, Georgia – September 1 – 3, 2012
The largest festival in Southeast Georgia, the annual Labor Day Weekend Catfish Festival features three days of southern-fried catfish, country music, a parade, arts and crafts booths, collectibles and antiques, a family-friendly amusement area, a classic car and tractor exhibit, 5K run, an annual pancake breakfast and more. In addition to the featured catfish, vendors will sell other popular food items such as hot dogs and hamburgers, fries and onion rings, barbecue, boiled peanuts, funnel cakes and soft drinks.
Dragon*Con is an annual science fiction and fantasy convention in Atlanta. Events include a parade, autograph sessions from fan favorites and tons of crazy costumes! Even if you’re not attending, it’s a great event for people watching. Prime time for catching a glimpse of all the costumes is Saturday, September 1, when a parade runs down Peachtree Street.
NASCAR AdvoCare 500
Racing fans can take a drive down to Atlanta Motor Speedway for some of NASCAR action over Labor Day Weekend. The AdvoCare 500 will take place on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Montgomery Gentry will be performing at the race in a Fast Cars & Guitars Pre-Race Concert
