Entering the last leg of the summer, Jacksonville and the surrounding area seem to be keeping a low profile. However, there are still tons of things to do, as always, in northeast Florida.
Friday – August 31
The Buckler’s Craft Fair will be at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs in the Exhibit Building beginning at 10 a.m.
The weekly Friday Market at The Jacksonville Landing opens at 10 a.m.
There will be a Boardwalk Bash with live music from 5-8 p.m. at The Shops-Omni Amelia Island Plantation.
Skytrain will be playing at Jerry’s Sports Grille on Atlantic Blvd. beginning at 8 p.m.
Billy Buchanan will also play at 8 p.m. at Pusser’s Caribbean Grille on A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Saturday – September 1
“Know Your Natives” – Visit the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens to learn about the wide variety of Florida native plants that are in the gardens. Learn which natives will work for you and about the benefits of utilizing them in your home garden. The program begins at 8:45 a.m.; $10 for members, $20 for non-members.
From 9a.m.-12 p.m.at Home Depot, kids ages 5-12 can participate in a FREE hands-on workshop. All kids can keep their craft and will receive a Kids Workshop Apron. This week’s project is a Goal Post Football Game.
The Vilano Beach Sunset celebration begins at 3p.m. at the Vilano Beach Pier and Pavilion. There will be a market, music, food, dancing, and lots of fun! FREE! Enjoy the sunset radiating across the bay from the City of St. Augustine.
The Riverside Art Market will feature many different artists on the River Stage, including Jenni Reid, whose debut album is now out on itunes and in her online store. Click HERE to take a listen.
Michael Peter Smith will perform at the European Street Cafe in San Marco beginning at 8 p.m.
Sunday – September 2
MOCA Family Free Day goes on downtown from 12-4 p.m.
Also downtown, the Florida Theater will be showing On the Town (1949), starring Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Ann Miller. The movie begins at 2 p.m. and tickets are $7.50.
Monday – September 3
St. Augustine will have a Labor Day Concert in the Plaza from 1-4 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the St. Augustine Jazz Society.
There will be live entertainment at The Jacksonville Landing from 5-9 p.m.
Fall is just around the corner, so enjoy the last of summer while you can.
