Forget the laundry; The lawn really doesn’t need mowing. This weekend is for festivals – arts and crafts, folk art and hot air balloons. Music and comedy fill out the schedule of events ensuring, come Monday, the house will be a wreck but its inhabitants will be content with a weekend well-spent.
Adirondack Folk School Festival, Adirondack Folk School, 51 Main Street, Lake Luzerne, 696-2400. Saturday, July 7, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free admission and refreshments. Folk School instructors and regional artists will be demonstrating their crafts to include weaving, fly-tying and woodcarving. Some will be selling their work. Bolton Landing Emergency Squad Arts & Crafts Festival, Rogers Memorial Park, Lakeshore Drive, Bolton Landing, July 7 and 8, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. More than 35 vendors are expected. Free admission. Parking at the park is $5; free parking on the road, at the Town Hall and in the parking lot across the street from the Bolton Chamber of Commerce.
Chestertown Summerfest, Chester Municipal Center ball field, Main Street (across from the Grand Union), Chestertown, Saturday, July 7, 12 – 10 p.m. Face painting, booths, games and activities all afternoon. Scheduled events:
- Bonnie & Clyde mini car show
- Veterans Memorial dedication
- Steve Smith Band at 6 – 9 p.m.
- BBQ dinner beginning 5 p.m.
- Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. In case of rain, the fireworks will be held the following evening. Sponsored by the North Warren Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Chester.
Sunkiss Balloon Festival, Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport, 443 Queensbury Avenue

Fridays at the Lake concert series continues with Sirsy in Shepard Park this Friday, July 6, at 7 p.m. This is the third season for the outdoor summer concerts produced by Improv Records and supported by the Town and Village of Lake George, local businesses and individuals. The concerts are free and family friendly.
Comedian Angry Bob headlines this Saturday, July 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Lake George Forum’s comedy show. Also appearing will be The Las Vegas Boys with their show billed as hilarious, hillbilly humor. The Forum hosts adult comedy shows (21 and older only) every Saturday night. Food and alcoholic beverages are available. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
