Did you ever see anyone in your office back-biting a co-worker? How about being so mad you want the offending bully to “swallow their words”? Or what happens when the gossip is so thick you are all chewing on the “dirt”?
Why are so many offices like a party of cannibals who could care less about how they behave and only want to find a way to get their satisfaction from cutting up others?
We have lost our edge of being respectful and caring in companies around the country. And while we just celebrated the Fourth of July, we don’t seem to get it, that freedom of speech is not just saying whatever comes to your mind.
We have become lazy, listless, loud, and litigious. Our workplaces are filled with stress and distress.
Big question: Can we turn this around and stop feeding on each other, stop judging, stop bullying, stop blaming, and stop attacking?
I say we begin a campaign at work: NO MORE JUBLA!
That means we create cultures that have zero tolerance for Judging, Blaming, and Attacking.
Bigger question: How to do this?
Check out “Don’t Bring It to Work” and its companion “Pattern Aware Success Guide”. Here you get the underlying reasons why we create such annoying situations at work and what to do about it. Here is a glimpse into the reasons; we have created work to be just like the family.
Think about it, we have bosses (parents), we have co-workers (siblings), we have salaries (allowances), and we have performance improvement plans (slapped hands).
When stress hits the hot button we all tend to revert to behavior patterns we learned as kids for survival and security. We tell on each other, we talk behind each others backs, we play better-than-you, and on and on.
Once we learn to observe and then tame the behavior patterns that cause conflict, we can work together in cooperative and creative ways.
Get together and use the “Pattern Aware Success Guide”, it’s a three month, do something different everyday guide away from JUBLA and to RUBBA. Let’s all learn to be grown-ups and be Responsible, Understand, Behave, Believe, and Appreciate each other.
No more eating each other alive.
