Country singer LeAnn Rimes voluntarily checked herself into an in-patient treatment facility to deal with anxiety and stress, her rep told People on Aug. 30, 2012.
Rimes, who lost a significant amount of weight last year, is not seeking treatment for an eating disorder or substance abuse, her rep underscored.
Rimes went to rehab on Aug. 29, one day after her 30th birthday. “This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be,” says LeAnn.
“All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”
Rimes has repeatedly denied speculation that she’s suffering from an eating disorder and has gotten into petty Twitter feuds with fans who accused her of starving herself.
“People are calling me bulimic or anorexic, and these are real issues and diseases that I don’t have,” she said. “For someone like me who is healthy, who works hard for my body, it’s very frustrating.”
LeAnn’s husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, 39, has also vehemently denied that LeAnn is anorexic.
“It bothers me because I know she’s healthy,” he said. “She’s just a very [conscientious] eater. She actually takes pride in the way she looks and it’s a shame that people will jump on the bandwagon just because she is fit.”
