As summer winds down it’s time to make sure our cars are ready for the harsher weather of the upcoming seasons.
This is a good time to check tire condition. Tires that served you well all summer may be too worn to be safe in rain or snow. Hoses and fan belts are also important checks.
The best way to ensure everything is inspected and kept safe is to have your regular oil changes at a repair facility and not a “wash and lube”. Your mechanic will look the car over and often makes minor fixes, often at no charge, that vastly enhance the reliability of your car.
This is also a good time to make sure you’re personally ready by learning more about your car. In Queens you can contact Audra Fordin of What Women Auto Know.com and take one of her free car care seminars. Classes are held on the third Saturday of each month. You can call Audra at her repair shop (yes she is a mechanic) at 718-762-6212
