Last night, 82 young women from across the globe took the stage at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago, Illinois to compete for the titles of Miss Teen International 2012 and Miss International 2012. After a rousing three hour dual production, Caroline Crowley who competed as Miss Teen Alabama International was crowned Miss Teen International 2012, and Krista Marie Wanous who competed as Miss Minnesota International 2012 was crowned Miss International 2012.
The program opened with Sherry Benson, director of Miss Teen District of Columbia International and Miss Teen Maryland International pageants, being named Director of the Year. Followed by all 82 women taking the stage in red cocktail dresses to Kelly Clarkson’s, Stronger, during their opening number.
The competition was hosted by Joanne Brown, Mrs. International 2000 and singer Ryan Greenawalt, who named the online winners Courtney Critz, Miss Teen Nevada International 2012 and Erin Mcneil, Miss Scotland International 2012 and the Top 10 finalists in each competition. The Top 10 teen semi-finalists: Anysha Panesar (Great Britain), Caroline Crowley (Alabama), Elizabeth Tran (Florida), Hannah Hausman (Tennessee), Kristina Langan (New Jersey), Courtney Critz (Nevada), Margo Huffman (District of Columbia), Gabby Taylor (Minnesota), Amanda Jenkins (California), and Shelby Cannon (North Carolina).
Top 10 Miss Semi-finalists: Jade Kenny (Alabama), Julie Tesh (East Coast), Kola Brown (Arkansas), Nicole Ortiz (Delaware), Hermanie Pierre (Haiti), Krista Wanous (Minnesota), Allison Hill (Mid-Atlantic), Kristyn Admire (Virginia), Cally Beech (Great Britain), and Dedria Brunett (California).
The Top 10 semi-finalists in each category had just a few minutes to gather their bearings before the Onstage Interview competition, followed by Fitness, Fun Fashion, and Evening Gown competitions. Once the 2012 competition was complete the audience was treated to great entertainment and the final court in each category was announced.
The final court for the Teen category: Elizabeth Tran (Florida), Fourth Runner-Up, Shelby Cannon (North Carolina), Third Runner-Up, Gabby Taylor (Minnesota), Second Runner-Up, and Anysha Panesar (Great Britain), First Runner-Up. Caroline Crowley, Miss Teen International 2012 will spend her year promoting her platform, Miracle League and Shane’s Inspiration as well as the official Miss Teen International alliance with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women.
The final court for Miss category: Allison Hill (Mid-Atlantic), Fourth Runner-Up, Kola Brown (Arkansas), Third Runner-Up, Dedria Brunett (California), Second Runner-Up, Jade Kenny (Alabama), First Runner-Up. Krista Marie Wanous, Miss International 2012, will use her year to promote platform, “Art Heals! Healing Lives through Creative Expression, ” as well as the official Miss International alliance with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women.
The Teen and Miss International Pageants are Mrs. International productions. Mrs. International began 23 years ago and the Teen competition was developed to promote today’s teens, ages 13 – 18, the Miss competition was created to showcase single women, who are 19 to 29 years old and their accomplishments. Each contestant competes in Interview competition, which is valued at 40% of their total score, Evening Gown, valued for 20%, Fitness Wear for 20%, and Fun Fashion Wear 20%. Each contestant also has the opportunity to select a platform of her choice.
