Ringo Starr’s birthday show at the Ryman Auditorium was a star-studded affair, as we reported Saturday night. But there was more.
Several fans told us they saw cameras and signs about filming at the show. We’ve confirmed the filming was for the official DVD that Ringo and the All-Starr Band issue after each tour.
Ringo’s brother-in-law Joe Walsh joined in the festivities adding “Rocky Mountain Way” to the set.
Olivia Anne Morris Fuchs, who attended the show, said the band is tremendous.
“This band is as good a band as I’ve heard in my life,” she told us. “I mean they are stunning.”
She said people went “crazy” went Joe Walsh began to play “and were going crazy through all of ‘Rocky Mountain Way.’”
“They (the band) were all amazing. The guys were having a ball, too. Mark Rivera and Richard Page were just having a ball together. Richard was going all over the stage and Rivera is up to the left of the stage. They would go up the stairs and sing and laugh together.”
She said he threw out things, including peace and love bracelets and cookies at the Hard Rock Cafe. There was also an amusing incident at noon when Ringo asked for his traditional “peace and love” salute.
“And they’re doing a countdown to get to noon, then all this ungodly feedback starts. And they’re telling him it’s him with his microphone. And it just won’t stop. It’s this horrible screaming sound. As it turns out, we’re right by the river and it’s apparently some sound that sounds every Saturday at noon, like an air raid siren or something.
“Everybody thought it was pretty funny. But for a minute, they were trying to tell Ringo it was his fault. But he laughed.”
