My whole purpose in life is to know God better. The idea is simple, and yet, the journey is formidable. I have often thought that the idea of God was an easy one, but once you begin to really study the many similar, yet subtly different religious beliefs from around the world, it is quite easy to see why there are so many paths one can take to form a closer connection to this Higher Source.
To complicate matters more, the many different belief systems have much overlap to one another. The many God’s have become one main creator through time. But then we ask is this “true source of all” a personal God that can hear my prayers and show me mercy? And if so, is it all goodness and light, or more like a parent that will punish us for being bad?
God may not get involved with humans at all, this creative force brought life into being and then just steps back to watch as things unfold. We learn to manipulate the universe we live in through universal laws that were put in place from the beginning. Through thought, words, action and deeds we are responsible for our lives and everything in them.
Are we good servants and obey the will of God? Are we God’s and bend the universe to our will? If God had a will for us, what would it be? To live in peace, love and joy, is what a loving God would want for us.
If we wanted to bend the universe to our will, we would want peace, love, and joy. Plenty of money to give use peace of mind, peace in our communities and peace on Earth, to give and receive love from friends and family, neighbors and pets, and to find joy in nature and in our material toys, as well as to be able to contribute in a meaningful way to the world, and to earn the respect and admiration of our fellow human beings.
It would seem Gods will and our will are very similar. If God’s will and our will are so similar, than why are we not all living in peace, love, and joy?
