The 2012 Olympics had their first international incident as a mysterious woman in red marched into the Olympic Stadium with Team India along with officials from that country.
Indian officials are not only mystified, but a bit miffed after this mystery woman somehow managed to get into the opening ceremony and march alongside of the officials and athletes from India, according to the Huffington Post.

While the mystery woman has been identified on social networks and in some newspapers as Madhura Honey, a post-graduate from Bangalore now living in London, there’s been no “official” word of who she is or what she was doing there.
Madhura Honey’s father, K. Nagendra, reported that his daughter had been chosen to dance in director Danny Boyle’s ceremony. He speculated that she might have been asked by organizers to escort India’s team into the stadium. Nagendra also said, “This might have hurt our team’s feelings. I feel very sorry for that.”
The organizers of the Olympic Games downplayed security concerns around this incident on Sunday because they report that the uninvited marcher was a cast member in the ceremony and had been screened before entering the Olympic Park.
The Times of India is reporting that the Indian officials are still waiting to hear an official explanation of this mystery woman from the Olympic organizers. They are also reporting that “her unwanted presence has not gone down well with the Indians, who had no clue as to who she was.”
As seen on the video, this very happy and proud looking woman marched right in next to the Indian flag bearer Sushil Kumar. The flag bearer was at the head of the delegation of 40 athletes in bright yellow and navy blue. The images taken from Friday’s ceremony showed a young woman in turquoise jeans and a red jacket acting as if she belonged there.
This incident didn’t sit well with India’s officials who want an answer as to how this was allowed to happen. This story dominated the media coverage of the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremonies in India.
