The Naples Art Association has issued an invitation to artists residing in the United States to submit one or two current works in any media for the upcoming von Liebig Art Center exhibition, National Art Encounter 2012-2013. Applications are accepted online or using an off-line “pen and paper” application (addition fee applies) available in person at The von Liebig Art Center. Offline applications are due by Sept. 5, 2012 and online applications are due by Sept.12, 2012.
Artists may submit in two entry categories: 2-dimensional artwork and 3-dimensional artwork. Only one image is allotted per entry in the 2-D category, but a maximum of three images are permitted in the 3-D category in order to enable artists to show alternate views of the work they intend to submit. Artists must also include an artist statement with their application and non-refundable entry fee of $29 ($22 for current Naples Art Association members).
“Although membership is not required for artists entering National Art Encounter 2012-13, we welcome artists to join the Naples Art Association and receive the members’ discount on their entry fee,” states the NAA in its press release announcing the exhibition. “Membership offers many exciting benefits.” For more information on becoming a member, please visit http://www.naplesart.org/content/become-member or call (239) 262-6517.
Jurors for the exhibition are Margaret Miller, Director of the Institute for Research in Art at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Corrina Peipon, Assistant Curator at The Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Culture Center in Los Angeles, and Dulce Roman, Curatorial Chair and Curator of Modern Art at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art, University of Florida, Gainesville.
Artists chosen by the jurors for the exhibition will be notified on or before October 18.
The show will run from December 8, 2012 through January 26, 2013, with the NAA hosting a preview reception and awards presentation at The von Liebig Art Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012. During the reception, cash awards totaling $2,500 will be presented to the award winners. Each exhibiting artist is eligible to bring one non-member guest to the reception free of charge. All other non-member guests are welcome at $10 per person.
With many of the works exhibited in National Art Encounter 2012-13 available for purchase, this exhibition will afford collectors a unique viewing and purchasing opportunity.
