ABC’s new show “Nashville” is the story of a popularity and power struggle between a legendary country singer and an up and coming young singer. Connie Britton plays country singing superstar Rayna James whose popularity is fading. In an effort to resurrect her career, James goes on tour with Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere, a sexy and ruthless newcomer to the country music scene. The two become involved in a complex battle for the spotlight.
Complicating matters is Rayna’s father Lamar Hampton, played by Powers Boothe, who’s a wealthy, powerful political force. Against Rayna’s wishes, he supports her husband running for mayor of Nashville and plots to that end.
