July 30 is National Cheesecake Day, and The Cheesecake Factory is celebrating by offering half-price slices of any of its delicious varieties of cheesecake on the 30 and 31. You may not, know, though, that this tasty dessert was first served to Olympians in 776 B.C. for extra energy, according to Fox 8.
Can you believe it? Do you think Olympians at the 2012 London Olympics will eat some today in celebration? While it generally contains a lot of sugar and calories, it is hard to beat cheesecake. If it was good enough to give Olympians energy all those centuries ago, it is surely good enough for you. Will you enjoy a slice today?
Today, The Cheese Factory will debut its new OREO Dream Extreme Cheesecake, which it has heavily promoted via Facebook for several weeks. Half-price cheesecake is hard to beat, and if you share it with a friend, it will be even less hard on your waist.
Of the celebration, David Overton, Founder of The Cheesecake Factory, said, “In our fifth year of celebrating National Cheesecake Day, we couldn’t be more excited to have created this memorable cheesecake featuring the world-famous Oreo cookie, which is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.”
Will you get yourself a piece of this tasty, cream cheese dessert today, National Cheesecake Day? Did you have any idea that this treat was the dessert of champions?
