Summer is here and the hotter it gets, the more we can count on seeing those horrible little black jumpers, not only on the animals, but on your skin.
There are natural solutions that actually work
To keep fleas away and under control you must treat the whole house and yard, not just the pet.
Below are some suggestions of products that I use, they are easy to do and a must if you are wise and not choosing the chemical path. Why would anyone choose a toxic option to expose your family human and animal too.
For the House: Fleabusters Powder
(I use this once a year on all types of flooring and all the furniture and it keeps the house flea free for an entire year, no kidding)
Fleabusters Rx Flea powder is a unique and safe alternative to liquid pesticides and foggers.
It kills fleas physically rather than chemically, thus fleas cannot build up immunity to the product. Fleabusters has served millions of homes across the United States for over 20 years, and proudly stand by a “kills fleas for one-year” money back guarantee.
Fleabusters is a safe solution for human and animal.
You simple sprinkle around on the floor, rub in it, let it sit for a few hours and vacuum it up.
It is a powder (boric acid) most stores carry it or you can order it on line. You can actually hire their service to come out to the house and do it for you, as you will see on the website above
It is cheap/safe/simple and one treatment can last for a year. Read more on the site above
For the Yards: Nematodes
Remember that most fleas live in the grass, they come in not only on Fido or FeFe, but they come in on your shoes or clothing as well. They will leap to any warm body upon contact.
So if you want the fleas off your pets and out of your house, you mist rid your yard of fleas as well.
Instead of chemical insecticides, you have a simple safe option by using harmless, naturally occurring microorganisms known as beneficial nematodes to treat fleas on lawns, pet runs, exercise areas, around food and water bowls and elsewhere in the yard.
You can purchase them or order them at most nurseries or order them on line.
Again it is as simple as shaking them around and walking away.
If you do not get the yard under control, you will not be able to stop them from coming in the house and vice versa
For the Body: Natural Organic Flea Shampoo and Conditioner:
The next line of defense is to use a shampoo that repels fleas, but it must not contain any chemicals. Fleabusters also carry a shampoo, but there are many options; just doing a search on natural flea shampoos and you can make your own decision.
Whatever shampoo you choose, always use a good conditioner, so their coat does not dry out.
Inside the Body: There is actually a Natural Repellent to use in the drinking water, it is a flower essence called “Flea Free” by Green Hope Farms.
(I start putting a few drops in my pet’s water around April each year and continue until the hot weather is over)
Flea Free is a flower essence that you add to your pet’s water bowl, or put on a variety of spots on their body, it is so safe you can put it right in their mouth.
It is all natural and I have seen this work on 90% of the animals I recommend it to for the last 13 years. Not many stores carry it, so you will probably have to order it on line. Note: It can take time to build up, so you have to do all the other things mentioned above while waiting.
It is what I use everyday: you just get a little bowl of hot soap and water, run the flea comb thru your pets hair , it will grab any fleas, then just dip the flea in the bowl of water to kill them. ( A simple way to do a daily check)
These are options and I wanted you to know the ones that actually work for me.
Be thoughtful about what you put in your family’s environment, it can be a matter of life and death.
Now get out there and enjoy the summer Flea Free
