Taking us a step closer to the 23rd big-screen adventure with Bond … James Bond, Sony Pictures released the full trailer for “Skyfall” Tuesday.
Directed by Sam Mendes, “Skyfall” signals the return of Daniel Craig for his third turn as 007, which began in 2006 with “Casino Royale” and continued in 2008 with “Quantum of Solace.”

Also returning to the fold for another Bond film is Judi Dench as M, and new to the franchise in “Skyfall” are Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Helen McCrory and legendary actor Albert Finney.
The newest Bond girls for “Skyfall” are Naomie Harris (Tia Dalma in the second and third “Pirates of the Caribbean” films) and French film star Berenice Marlohe.
Sony Monday released an 18 second teaser trailer. The action mostly takes place atop a speeding train on a bridge where Bond fends off an attacker, with brief glimpses of M giving the order to the sniper, Eve (Harris), to “take him out.”
The trailer Tuesday revealed the “him” to be Bond, who apparently planned on faking his own death. Fiennes also appears in the trailer, chiding M for her actions, and Bardem appears in blond hair as the main villain.

The screenplay was co-written by Oscar-nominated scribe John Logan, who has penned such films as “Gladiator,” “The Aviator,” “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” “Rango” and most recently, “Hugo.”
“Pretty much like everyone, I grew up on the movies — the first one I saw was ‘Diamonds are Forever,'” Logan recalled for me in an interview earlier this year. “I’ve seen every Bond film since then and have read all the books, so when Sam Mendes came to me to work on it, I jumped at the chance. It was a thrilling experience to with Sam, who I admire so much and then to play in the Bond world for a little while. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.”
Sony issued a description of the film Monday, which said, “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”
“Skyfall” opens in theaters in October.
