While the Royals focused on Zara Phillips and her attempt on an eventing medal during days two and three of the Olympic Games, a few familiar faces could be found in the crowd on both days. Prince William was spotted enjoying life with David Beckham on Sunday, July 29 as they watched Britain play football against the United Arab Emirates.
According to “Bleacher Report,” Team UAE had a strong start, but Britain ultimately rallied and won the heat, 3-1. Prince William is president of the Football Association and soccer is something he always seems to get involved in whenever he can.
Prince William and Prince Harry were also on hand to watch Team GB take its third Olympic medal, an unexpected prize in gymnastics. For the first time in 100 years, the men’s gymnastics team took a bronze in artistic gymnastics. According to “The Telegraph,” they would have had silver, but Japan pushed for a better score, was granted it, and infuriated the Ukraine who would otherwise have taken bronze. The team was booed for its actions.
Team GB has now gathered one silver medal and two bronzes. Lizzie Armitstead took silver in the women’s bicycling road race, while Rebecca Adlington took bronze in the women’s 400 meter freestyle swimming. On July 31, all eyes will surely be on the equestrian team when Zara Phillips and her team-mates attempt to gain their own medal.
