A new computer tip every day for a year
Day 80 / 365
The taskbar can have a links toolbar – a toolbar with quick links to pages on the Web. When enabled this toolbar allows you to open a browser and go to a website with one click.
To enable the Links toolbar right click on the taskbar and choose Toolbars. If there is no check mark to the left of the Links entry, click the Links entry. This will enable the “Links” toolbar.
Every link on the Favorites Bar is a link on the Links toolbar – there is a one-to-one correspondence. Add a link to the Favorites Bar (Links Bar in older versions of Internet Explorer) and it shows up on the Links toolbar. If you aren’t familiar with the Favorites Bar, read on. It is very useful.
The Favorites Bar is a very handy bar that displays your favorite pages right on the face of Internet Explorer (also on Google Chrome and Mozilla FireFox). To save a link on the Favorites Bar, hit CTRL-D and save the current page to the “Favorites Bar” folder. As soon as you save it, it will show up on the Favorites Bar. Get used to this feature and you won’t be able to live without it.
