The beach volleyball team’s wish came true. Prince Harry was there to cheer them on. When The Guardian reported that Prince Harry’s latest assignment would be beach volleyball, we could hear the cheers. As the Irish Independent reported today, August 9, 2012, “Prince Harry was joined by Olympic cycling stars Laura Trott and Jason Kenny to watch the raucous finals of the women’s beach volleyball.” Prince Harry turns up at beach volley ball to delight of players
The Olympic gold went to the United States pair Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. This was the third successive Olympic gold medal in women’s beach volleyball that the women had won.
Royal friends and royal duties
Surely the Playboy Prince was happy to be joined by friends to watch the event. International footballer David Beckham was there with his family. Prince William had to be back on duty as an RAF pilot this week, so he did not join his bachelor brother.
However, Prince William returning to the RAF is a reminder of how seriously the princes take their work. As the media speculates about Prince Harry each time he is seen with a new date, we should keep in mind his own words. He has repeatedly told the press that he is committed to his royal duties and his military career.
However, as The Guardian reported in July regarding his latest assignment with beach volleyball, it seemed to be a perfect match for the Playboy Prince.
This from the Daily Mail
“When the call came asking for a member of the Royal Family to oversee the Olympic beach volleyball this summer, it wasn’t the most challenging piece of casting.
“And happily Prince Harry declared that he was, indeed, the man for the job.
“As well as a keen eye for the female form, Harry also boasts some experience in the sport having played a game on the beach at Rio when he visited Brazil on behalf of the British Government this year.” Harry’s date at the beach volleyball
Harry and the women athletes
Perhaps Prince Harry will now become more attentive to the women athletes who were so very much trying to meet him instead of playing with the party girls from singing groups and modeling agencies.
Said player April Ross, “We’ve tried as hard as we can to get in touch with Prince Harry. We’ve Tweeted him, we’ve stalked him Facebook. We thought because he was so into volleyball he would have got back to us. But no luck so far,” as was noted by Zimbio. US Beach Volleyball Team Really Wants To Meet Prince Harry
Maybe one of Prince Harry’s cheerleaders, Princess Zara, should be looking among some of her fellow competitors to find a suitable match for him. And perhaps Harry should spend more time at the beach. Be sure to read: Royal Olympics Love Triangle Stars Prince William, Kate, and Harry
