There are many people who will say that three’s a crowd when it comes to a love relationship. In the case of Princess Diane this was very much true and real. There really aren’t a lot of people who would put up with the fact that their spouse was having continued intimate relations with another person. The potential probability that one of the three in the love triangle would get emotionally hurt should be enough to deter this type of behavior. Prince Charles, however, seems to have wanted his cake and icing too by marrying Princess Diana while continuing an intimate relationship with Camilla. He wasn’t the first royal family member to do so, and most likely won’t be the last one either.
Princess Diana was 12 years younger than Prince Charles, but age difference shouldn’t be the defining point in any relationship. It has been known for centuries of how prior English aristocrats sought intimacy outside of their marriage, and the women did not publically speak about it to anyone. This tolerance was given in order to preserve the dignity and respect of their family and public standing. Princess Diana wanted for her marriage to work, but this has to be reciprocated on the other end in order to work. Prince Charles was not willing nor was he going to let go of Camilla – even at the risk of having a failed marriage. The Queen herself didn’t understand Diana’s plight as she has always been less emotional about marriage issues, and came to accept the aristocrat’s view of marriage. She did try to get Charles to stop seeing Camilla for Diana, but even that wasn’t enough to stop Charles from seeing the married woman.
It is publically known that Camilla knew of Princess Diana before the wedding, and there are those who believe she helped Charles choose his bride. Unfortunately, Camilla seemed to have forgotten that not everyone shares her view on marital faithfulness. Diana wanted to fight for her husband, and even confronted Camilla about the issue. Unfortunately, Camilla knew how to play her cards with Charles, and was more than certain that she would be able to retain him. She even stated in a very jealous manner about how everyone else loved Diana, and that should be enough for her in order to justify her affair with Charles. Unrequited love bites when it occurs to people, but Diana faced the challenge enough to let go rather than let it destroy her life altogether.
In the end, divorce was more or less inevitable for Charles and Diana. There were too many outside and other factors that contributed to the demise of the once thought fairytale romance. Diana’s love for her children and volunteer work helped her to heal in time in order to move on with her life without Charles. In 1996 they came to an agreement on their divorce terms, and Diana made out quite well financially by being smarter than the royal family anticipated. Sadly, in 1997, Princess Diana was fatally killed in an automobile accident in France. Prince Charles traveled to France to bring her body back home to England. In the end Camilla did get her man, but the cost of that happening makes many realize that it just wasn’t worth the fight.
Princess Diana will always be thought of by a majority as the People’s Princess, because of her inner and outer beauty. Her strength became stronger everyday even if it was a slow process, which also gave her the courage to move forward even after her divorce from Prince Charles. Marital infidelity is something that can compel emotionally influenced behavior acts not to mention self-insecurity and a world of hurt. In spite of losing her husband to another woman right in front of the eyes of the world, she persevered with the challenge. She was and will always be an inspiration for many who face similar challenges in their lives. Her presence is sorely missed, and she will never be forgotten by the majority of people in the world .
