TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel had a rare night out from their baby daughter and enjoyed the Polar Music Prize ceremony yesterday at Stockholm Concert Hall. The night out didn’t last too long however, as the Princess returned home after the ceremony and Prince Daniel represented the couple at the dinner. The Princess is clearly focused on the young Princess Estelle; she also skipped a planned trip to London for the Olympics as she was just not ready to leave her baby girl.
The Prince and Princess were joined by TM King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the gala where the King had the honor of handing out Sweden’s highest music honor. The Prize, which was founded by ABBA’s manager Stig Anderson in 1989, is given out annually to a pop performer and a classical performer, this year going to Paul Simon and Yo-Yo Ma. Winners each receive a prize of 1 million kronor ($146,441) which is often donated to charity. Previous winners have included American musicians Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen, Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and British rock musicians Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Pink Floyd.
