As I watched the second episode of Season 10 of Project Runway, I was amazed at the concept of making clothing with candy- how sweet! The contestants had to use candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar (a candy store owned by Ralph Lauren’s daughter) to design elegant couture pieces. How creative was this concept and even some of the pieces that were designed?
Ralph Lauren makes great and timeless pieces I wonder had he ever thought of the “candy concept” as a special edition collection for children. (Well on second thought, probably not a good idea for the babies :/)
In every competition, you will have contestants that will look at certain challenges and think “what the H-E- (double hockey sticks)” and others contestants that will take on the same challenge like it is a piece of cake. I would probably have more of a “H-E-(double hockey sticks)” moment… But, hey I am not a contestant so I have nothing to worry about, lol.
Needless to say, there is no doubt that after entering a challenge of this magnitude that you can’t help but to expand and sharpen your skills for future designs and Runway projects. My advice to current and future Project Runway Contestants is from a quote in my book, Celebrity Inspired Inspirations “Inspiration can come from anywhere, it can come from the sun, the moon and the beauty of the stars” so don’t FREAK OUT, GET INSPIRED from whatever you have in front of you!
I can’t wait to watch Episode 3, “Watch Welcome Back (or not) to the Runway on TV” This Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 9:00 p.m on Lifetime.
