Forecast discussion: Over the last few hours, parts of Rhode Island have been seeing some precipitation fall. This is due to a weak disturbance moving through Southern New England. The state will see showers and isolated thunderstorms for the next 6 hours. Once the disturbance moves offshore, skies will begin to slowly clear. For the next couple of days, we will see some very hot weather. In fact, we could tie or break the record that is set for Tuesday, at 97. By Wednesday, we will begin to get a break from the hot weather.
A cold front is going to be moving through the Northeast U.S. on Wednesday. This cold front will help trigger some showers and thunderstorms, probably by the late afternoon. Any precipitation should end before the morning is over on Thursday. We will return to bright sunshine for the rest of the weekend. However, cooler air from Canada will actually keep temperatures in the lower to middle 80’s, with very little humidity. In fact, it will actually be comfortable to sleep at night without needing an air conditioner. Temperatures will begin to reach the middle 80’s by next Sunday.
In the tropics, there are no areas of development in the Atlantic Ocean at this time. In the Eastern Pacific, Emilia weakened into a remnant low, and there are no more advisories for the system.
