Want to join a long benefit bike ride through Northern Virginia in the summer heat? Then you can sign up for the 30th Annual Reston Century Bicycle Tour, Sunday, August 26.
Cyclists can choose from 33, 66 and 105 mile options. The event goes on rain or shine, starting and ending at Reston Town Center Pavilion. The event, sponsored by the Reston Bike Club, runs from 6:30 a.m. To 5 pm.
Registration costs $40 through August 18, $60 thereafter. On-site registration will be accepted with cash or check only. Funds benefit local non-profits.
Riders get a T-shirt.
Riders doing the century must start by 9 a.m. All others must start by 10 a.m.
Participants are welcome at a party from 12:30 p.m to 5 p.m. with food (included in registration; non-riders can attend for $15).
Anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Riders under 18 must have written permission from a guardian.
Refreshments, rest stops, mechanics and SAG vehicles are provided along the routes.
Only 1,500 riders may participate, so the club encourages early registration.
