If you’re a fan of Dr. Seuss and any of his books,
You must come to La Comedia and take a look.
The pages he created are brought to life in a musical,
Which you can probably guess, is titled Seussical.
The scenery, music and costumes are all a delight,
Plus the food from the buffet got better by the bite.
A pound of sweet potato soufflé? Why, Yes, I can.
And still have some room for the green eggs & ham.
Though the real star was The Cat in the Hat,
Christian Castro in the role truly is all that.
He has a tremendous gift of gab
At talking to the crowd, he’s fab.
Brings a lot of energy to the stage,
Too much to even try and gauge.
Much of the action revolves around Horton hearing a Who,
A society of people so small, they could be smashed by a shoe.
An elephant with a big heart, some think Horton’s a fool,
But his devotion to others is really pretty darned cool.
Though her tail might consist of just one little feather,
Kari Grunberg’s talent can fly her through all weather.
As Gertrude McFuzz, she steals all of her scenes
While to her secret beloved, not spilling the beans.
Last but not least, is Ben Kneblik/Blaise Bouschard who deserves many cheers,
For in the part of JoJo, acting way beyond their age in years.
The entire cast does everything right,
According to both sound and sight.
I left with a number of songs running through my head,
And there they remained even when I got into bed.
It’s a show for all ages to enjoy, the young and old
So don’t miss out and be left standing in the cold.
