As the majority of the people continue to wait for the economy to gain momentum and move just a little faster than the 101 Freeway, small businesses are starting to see green lights appear as more opportunities are becoming available to help them expand which in turn, will hopefully drive the rest of the economy out of the sunken pothole it’s still sitting in.
T–Mobile wants to help small and mid–sized businesses drive traffic to their doorstep with the assistance of mobile marketing since more people use cell phones today than in the last five years.
People are reliant on using a cell phone since 88% of all U.S adults now own one. However, people from low–income households or who have never attended college are still significantly less likely to own a cell phone, according to the Pew Internet and American Life Project.
Cell phones are no longer used just to check voicemail, email and text messages. Instead, many cell phone providers offer package deals with Internet service included, prompting many people to search online for things like a restaurant, driving directions or which movie to see on Friday night right on their cell phone.
More consumers are also using their cell phone to access their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
According to comScore, 45% of all Facebook traffic and 55% of all Twitter traffic is mobile.
Mobile marketing is a relatively new way for many businesses to expand their brand and message in trying to reach consumers. While most large companies such as Subway, NFL, Southwest Airlines, Ford Motor Company, Hooters, Sesame Street Live, Harley–Davidson Dealerships and Pizza Hut use mobile text messages to reach their customers, it can be a little intimidating for a smaller business to use it too.
In a study conducted by Web.com, 84% of businesses with less than 100 employees use mobile marketing have seen an increase in business.
