Ever been to a good Thai restaurant? Sawadee in Jersey City can be added to your personal list of great restaurants. It is mainly a Thai restaurant that also offers some Chinese/Cantonese food options in the menu.
Sawadee is located near the corner of Grove Street and Newark Avenue in downtown Jersey City, less than a block away from the path train. Sawadee opened in Jersey city on 2008 in hopes of reaching customers who appreciate Thai cuisine.
The food here is pretty good, they have a great menu selection that will satisfy anyone’s taste bud. The happy hour is Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm, serving from $3-$4 appetizers like curry puff, roti to spring rolls and Thai wings. $4 martinis to $3 beers. Try the lychee martini, it is very tasty.
You can also try the noodle soup selection here, you can see the noodle soup pictures posted on the outside window. The most common one is the beef noodle soup. Honestly, I would rate their soup about 4 out of 5. I had a better beef noodle soup somewhere else, but this is still a close second. Make sure to try the Thai ice tea if it’s your first time eating in a Thai place. It is a very delicious drink with any meal.
You must try the sticky rice with mango for the dessert. It’s one of the best thing to eat in there.
Whenever we come to this place, there are always plenty of seats, we are usually seated right away the moment we walk in the door. Though the restaurant is a bit dark inside, it has a little bit of the romantic feel. The over all decor and atmosphere is pretty inviting.
The place also offer outdoor seating when the weather is nice. It has a great of view of Newark ave.
Overall, this place is great to get some Thai food if your craving for it. If you don’t have the time to visit Thailand, here you can try the taste of their food with a reasonable price.
