Have you been keeping up with the 2012 Summer Olympics? Officially kicking off last Friday, the London-hosted events have thus far been full of great victories and huge upsets. Whether you root for your current country, home country or one you think deserves to win, there are just so many great athletes and teams worth celebrating.
While many may watch the games from the comforts of their own home, participating athletes can do the same (during much needed downtime) in the Athlete’s Village. A temporary home to nearly 17,000 athletes and officials, Athlete’s Village boasts a close proximity to game locations (perhaps for those who are late sleepers), shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and more.

Each of the 3,300 provided apartments offer beds for athletes (think dorm style) along with a television, communal space and wireless internet. The overall look of the quarters is both relaxed and minimal with a playful, IKEA-like feel. There are many odes to London and the Olympics with inspired home accents and bedding that can keep participants excited for the games. Seriously-who doesn’t love Union Jack prints?
Once the games are over, Athlete’s Village will receive a transformation turning many of the units into 2,800 new homes for Londoners (1,379 of which will be affordable housing). Londontown.com also reports that new parks, educational campuses and community facilities. To learn more about the 2012 London Olympics, visit www.london2012.com/
