A new video ad featuring Terry Crews, star in “Expendables” and former NFL player, wired to a host of musical instruments and playing them using nothing but his muscles has been played more than 3.2 million times with an amazing 484 thousand of those occurring on Facebook since its debut on August 23. The video is an ad for Old Spice aftershave reports NBC News on Thursday, August 29.
The video taps “the Internet-friendly principles of absurdity, interactivity, and iteration” says The Atlantic.
The video can be viewed on Vimeo, but that’s not all. At the end of the video, viewers are invited to take the controls with the interactive player and make their own musical arrangement by activating Terry Crew’s muscles.
News.com.au calls the video “an exciting new development in web advertising.”
Judging by the number of views on Vimeo and its over 9 thousand “likes”, it seems ‘muscle music’ has captured the attention of the Internet audience.
One viewer responded to the video with, “Never seen anything like it. I’m impressed, even if it’s not my thing. Kudos to Vimeo for an incredibly unique innovation in online/interactive video.”
