As July wraps up and August begins, there is a lot to do in and around Jacksonville. From art and music to shows and sales, there is fun to be had.
Hank & My Honky Tonk Heroes starring Jason Petty is playing at the Alhambra now through August 19. Jason Petty has won critical acclaim all over the country for his fantastic performance as country legend Hank Williams. He has been portraying Hank since 1996. The evening’s menu will feature Hoppin’ John salad, Alabama smoked chicken, fried catfish and peanut butter pie. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
Family Night at Chic-fil-A’s Marsh Landing location will feature Barry the Magician. Event will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Nemours BrightStart! will be offering free early literacy screenings for 3 to 5 year old preschool children at the Bartram Trail Library. Specially trained staff will work one-on-one with the child to check his or her knowledge of print, letter names, sounds, and listening skills that support the abilities required in learning to read. The screening only takes about 10 minutes. After the screening, parents will receive a free copy of A Parent’s Guide to Reading Readiness. Art Walk ‘Tealville’ will take place downtown with plenty of art, music and more from 5-9 p.m. Enjoy music by Dan Voll, meet the Jacksonville Jaguars’ ROAR and alumni players and visit the tables by Art Institute of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Jaycees and Surfers for Autism. Getting Strong – The Wiggles Live in Concert will be at the Florida Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m.
