Melbourne, Florida, July 2012 – Outdoor recreations enthusiast have a wide range of selections to pick from when selecting sunglasses as I can attest to after having attended the American Sportfishing Association’s International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST ) annual event in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Conventions Center (OCCC). I visited not less than ten (11) national recognized sunglass manufacturers booths to see what was new and exciting coming on the horizon. Here is my link http://pingroof.com/article/2012-icast-sun-protection-eyewear-extravaganza to my sunglass article that talks about anglers and outdoor recreations aficionados will see next year. In this article I want to focus on a brand of sunglasses that, in my opinion, separated itself from the rest. The brand is OnOs HD Polarized Bifocal sunglasses.
I need to give you a little background on what happens to your vision as you get older, specifically Presbyopia. Presbyopia is the blurring of near vision. This usually occurs beginning at around age 40, when people when read outdoor book or fishing magazines, tie fishing line to hooks or work on a computer or even use your cell phone. Did you know that in 2005 the WHO has reported that more than a billion people worldwide were presbyopic. I did not know this was so common. But I certainly tell you how much of an inconvenience this is for me when changing hooks or lures when fishing, reading topographic maps or even using my new IPhone. I find myself, taking off my sunglasses and using my magnifier glasses to see what I am doing close up. This is a real pain in the-you-know-what. I know that some sunglass brands have put little magnification areas on their sunglass lens. But the style of these glasses and the quality of the magnifier lens area has a lot to be desired. I have never found a style or brand that I liked, so I never purchased any. I did not have good opinion on this type of sunglasses until I tried on a few different pairs of OnOs bifocal sunglasses at ICAST. What I found very pleasing about the HD Polarized Bifocal sunglasses was the position of the magnifier sweet spot. It was located in just the right location on the lens as not to interfere with my normal vision when looking forward. And the size of the area was just right to enable me to tie small fishing line knots.
For me, I think I have found a solution to one of my nagging problems when I go outdoors into the Florida sunshine. My next sunglass purchase will most certainly be a pair of polarized bifocal sunglasses.
The next time you go shopping; stop by your local specialty outdoor recreation outfitter to see if they carry OnOs HD Polarized bifocal sunglasses. If not you can order them online. Remember that all OnOs come with a life-time warranty.
Until next time, be safe in the sun and have a terrific day in the great outdoors.
