Have you ever wondered what it might be like to navigate your way through a big city as you attempt to find your own place in it? It can be considerably tough. It can be terribly unnerving. It can be utterly scary. But, through the eyes of Kelsie Huff, it can also be brilliantly comical! Huff’s world premiere, one-woman production, “This Show Might Be Terrible”, will be unveiled in just a few short weeks during the Boulder International Fringe Festival, 2012.
The question one really should ask is, can this show truly be terrible? Highly doubtful! This award-winning actress and stand-up comedian, who calls Chicago her home, brings her acclaimed creative work, once again, to Boulder and the fringe festival where she has garnered glowing reviews and encore awards repeatedly in the past. Produced by square product theatre company, Huff engages the audience with embarrassing, rude and hilarious tales as she takes a journey through the windy city encountering a variety of disastrous circumstances. Always one to pick herself up and dust herself off she moves from one scintillating terrible moment to the next.
Fitting comfortably into square product theatre’s mission “to create and collaborate on original, honest and innovative works of theatre and performance with local and national artists,” Huff’s “infectious joyousness” (New City Stage Chicago), and ability to “create loud, defined characters” (Chicago Tribune) will create a sure fire hit! Not to be missed! Well, on second thought, maybe not for the kiddos under 13 as some strong language and other shenanigans might ensue!
Held at the Dairy Center for the Arts, East Theatre, you’ll have six opportunities to catch this unique and engaging debut performance. You can purchase tickets online at www.boulderfringe.com or pay at the box office before the show.
