Hubbard Street Dance Pay-What-You-Can Yoga. Yogis of all levels are encouraged to get fit on a budget by taking this “pay-what-you-can” class. There is a suggested donation of $5, but any donation is accepted. The class runs from 6:00pm – 7:15pm.

River North Summer Workshop begins. This is a 5-day workshop aimed at advanced dancers seeking a professional program in a company setting, between the ages of 15-25. Classes will include ballet, jazz, River North Dance Chicago Repertoire, modern, yoga, Pilates, and SAED (style, awareness, expression, and dynamics). The program will also include daily lunch lectures in nutrition, dance in college, and dance as a profession. Chicago Summer Dance: In the Parks. Join fellow dance enthusiasts in the Humboldt Park Boathouse (1359 N. Sacramento Ave) for a dance lesson full of Latin flair from 6:00-7:00pm, and live music and free dancing between 7:00-9:00pm. The Passistas Samba Dance Group will be teaching Samba, Axe, Samba0reggae, and danca toada to the live musical rhythms of Plateta Azul. Big City Swing hosts Alhambra Palace Wednesdays. Join fellow swing dancers as the Flat Cats and special guests play three sets of music for your dancing pleasure at Alhambra Palace (1240 W. Randolph Street). The Alhambra Palace doors will open at 6:00pm for you to enjoy some refreshments in their restaurant and bar before the festivities begin. The dance lesson will commence at 8:00pm with a beginning swing lesson (no experience or partner necessary), and free dancing will take place between 9:00pm – Midnight. ($10)

Big City Swing First Fridays. Bring a partner or go stag to this once-monthly open studio at Big City Swing (1012 W. Randolph Street). Doors open at 7:45pm, and the evening will kick off with a beginning swing lesson from 8:00-8:45pm. The floor will be opened up for DJ’d free dancing from 8:45pm-Midnight. Dance partners rotate throughout the night, so you will have plenty of opportunity to meet new people and dance with partners of every experience level. Light snacks and water are provided; if you are over 21, the event is BYOB. (Cost: $10)
