“Count it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance (patience). And let endurance (patience) have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4 NAS
Tests, trials, tribulations, and temptations; why so many? Why so often? Why do you have to go through so much, when you’re trying so hard? When you try to do the right thing, trouble comes. When you turn from the wicked ways, problems arise. When you try to move forward, temptation pops up. When you decide to trust God, struggles appear in your face. What have you done, and why won’t it stop? Why you, and why now? You feel down, alone and frustrated. You need some understanding, some direction and some deliverance. Is God there? Does He realize what you’re going through? Does He know the frustration, aggravation and irritation; doesn’t He know the disappointment, disturbance and defeat that you’re feeling. Why so long? Why so hard?
‘Cause God’s doing a work in you. Because your faith is being tried; it’s being tested and it’s being worked. This causes your patience to kick in and to begin to work in you as well. Why? Because you can’t grow in it, if you don’t work it; if you don’t use it and if you don’t exercise it. The Bible says, ‘…the testing of your faith produces patience and let patience have it’s perfect work, so the you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” So, “…count it all joy…” Your trial is for your own good; it’s for you own growth ; it’s for your own perfection; it’s for your own development and it’s for your own progress.
Count it all joy, because a great work is being done in you, so that you may be perfected through the trials that you face and the trouble that you meet. Count it all joy, because God desires you to grow and not to stay the same. Count it all joy, because God has plans for you and you can’t walk in those plans unless you develop in the Word; in your faith; in your patience and in your walk. Count it all joy, because your pain is your gain; your struggle, is your victory; your problem is your solution; and your adversity is your privilege. Count it all joy!!
Without trouble you will continue to be a spiritual baby, overprotected and underdeveloped. Without tests you never learn to trust God; never learn to wait on God; never learn to step out, step up and stand firm in the Word and in God.
TROUBLE IS GOOD; TESTS ARE NECESSARY AND TRIALS ARE BENEFICIAL!
