True Lacrosse will be holding tryouts for their summer teams in September. Details on the teams and tryouts are as follows:
How do you make a True Team?
Join a local True league:
True offers summer, fall, and winter leagues. This is like the “house” level of lacrosse where all different levels of players come to compete. This level is open to all players. You can register as a player or get together some friends and register a team.
Tryout for a regional team:
Tryouts are held in September annually. Regional teams compete in tournaments throughout the Midwest and are similar to an “A” team. Once a player has made a regional team, he is eligible to try out for our state team.
Tryout for a state team:
State teams are made up of the top players from around the state. These teams compete nationally and are similar to a “AAA” team. These players compete almost exclusively on the East Coast at recruiting events.
Levels of Competition
True State teams represent the top players from the state and compete in national caliber tournaments against the best teams in the country. Players are divided based on recruiting year i.e. 2015 (sophomore). All practices are held in Lansing weekly and players compete exclusively in recruiting showcase events.
True Lacrosse Michigan has 4 regions – Lakeshore (Holland, Kalamazoo, Spring Lake area), Grand Rapids, Flint, and Eastside (Brighton, Ann Arbor, South Detroit). These teams are divided into U19, U17, U15, and U13 levels. Players compete throughout the Midwest and practice locally each week.
Local players looking to get involved should first join a True Lacrosse league. This is similar to a house program in hockey. All are welcome as we combine games and instruction to teach the principles of the game along with on field experience. Teams are divided by varsity, JV, 7/8, and 5/6. We have locations in Holland, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, and Brighton.
Lakeshore: Holland, Kalamazoo, Grand Haven, Spring Lake. Home base is located at the Soccer Stop.
Grand Rapids: Forest Hills, East Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Lowell, Caledonia, and Greater Grand Rapids. Home base is located at the MVP Sports Spot.
Flint: Formerly the Lacrosse Coalition – the True Coalition will operate out of the greater Flint area as well as northern Detroit. Home base is located at Premier Sports.
Eastside: Comprised of players from Lansing, Ann Arbor, Brighton, and all areas east of US 127. Future home is located in Brighton. The facility will be opening in the summer of 2013.
