The very successful Unified South Florida Theatre Auditions have just changed the future for Florida artists and theatre auditions. Hiring companies included Boca Raton Theatre Guild (AEA), Dream Child Productions, Island City Stage, The Performance Project, Slow Burn Theatre Company, Viridian Productions. Casting Equity and non-Equity talent with a 100 % booked audition success, many others theatre companies may be joining together for future Unified Auditions.
Casting male and female professional performers, actors, singers and dancers from ages sixteen to sixty-five. Hundreds auditioned for creative casting teams from numerous top Theatre Chat theatres. The theatre companies came together to give artists a – one stop shopping audition. The pay off is huge for the theatres but even bigger pay off for the talent. The Unified Audition process makes it much easier for any struggling performer paying for gas to drive to dozens of individual theatre auditions.
With top theatre companies joining together hundreds of talented singers, actors, actresses were given the opportunity to be hired by professional theatres in South Florida that offer pay for their talents. The turn out was much bigger than expected with every available time slot scheduled. Auditions started at 5:00 p.m. the first day and went into the late evening to 11:00 p.m. The second day staring again at 5:00 p.m. the auditions finished around 10:00 p.m.
Do you think it is time to include every South Florida theatre, finding a weekend Unified Audition date that would allow more to participate? Extra time would allow audition times for a dance call in the future. Theatre Chat wants to hear from those who auditioned and theatres who would take part in the much needed “South Florida Theatre Unified Auditions” please email email@example.com.
A few cancellations helped those who did not have an audition time slot for those waiting in the wings, because every audition slot was completely full. The tight schedule was accomplished by requiring the participants to sing 16 to 32 bars of music, perform a short monologue and bring pictures for each of the companies hiring. Some of the performers may have also inspired ideas for next seasons’ Broadway shows in South Florida, when their audition talents gave many ideas to the creative teams sitting behind the casting tables.
Each theatre company will contact those talents they choose to hire, re-audition or bring back for a dance call. The “South Florida Theatre Unified Auditions” have set a new bar for South Florida artists with hopes that GableStage, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Actors’ Playhouse, Mosaic Theatre and others will join in on the huge success.
Actors have a huge expense keeping headshots up to date and driving around the state of Florida to audition for each theatre company that pays. “Unified South Florida Theatre Auditions” allowed the artists to drive to one location and be seen by all of the professional theatres that are looking for their talents. This is a must for the future of arts in our community. Theatre Chat.
A “Dance Call” for future Unified Auditions would allow dancers to also show off their talents. The “Unified South Florida Theatre Auditions” were held at the Broward Center and showed each artistic team from a half dozen theatre companies the need for joining together in Unified Auditions.
