Mega Man 5 is one game that really does have somewhat of a pattern. There are letters involved in collecting them but the robot masters do not follow the letters in that respect. It is not a difficult game once you’ve mastered and have played Mega Man games in the past. The robot masters have a set pattern and are somewhat difficult if not understanding on what it is.
For this one, it would be best to start off with Gravity Man. It is pretty common to start with him. The key to this battle is that he will be upside down when you’re right side up and vice versa. Use the Mega Buster and charge it up to hit consistently with it. If upside down, remember to use up and then press the jump button. That is the way to go and will help avoid getting hit. In the rematch however, use the Star Shield to defeat him because that will be able to hit him a lot easier and can set it in the direction of your choice just once but that’s about it. Getting to him can be a bit difficult if not paying attention. The letter actually isn’t too difficult to obtain but not all of them will be easy.
Gyro Man would be the recommended one to go to next considering that after Gravity Man, you get his weakness. Just be sure to time it right and don’t attack when he turns into a little disc. Use that but time it perfectly so that it can be used properly. If done right, both Gravity Man’s weapon and Gyro Man will go down at the same time unless of course you used the Mega Buster. Getting the letter is a bit difficult and will have to involve the blocks falling a little bit and then try to jump quickly to stay alive. Of course, you could sacrifice a life if it will get the job done and have lives left over.
Crystal Man just needs to be hit with Gyro Man’s weapon. Just be sure to use his weapon. The pattern and key to beating him would be to be at a certain distance. If far away, he will jump very high in the air. You can fire Gyro Man’s weapon but can move it up or down depending upon what is needed. In short, he is not hard to beat. To get the Roman Numeral V or 5 depending upon if it is the original or Anniversary Collection version, just be sure when falling to get close to it without getting hit with spikes. It is a matter of paying attention.
Napalm Man can be hit with Crystal Man’s weapon easily. Just fire it while avoiding his missiles. It is not an overly difficult boss but can be challenging if getting frustrated easily. At a close distance, he will use Napalm Bombs so stay out of the way if you don’t want to get hit. Use it a few times and it should do the trick without question.
Stone Man has a key and it is involving not letting him jump on you. He will fire two stones at first but keep at a close range and it can be avoided. Use Napalm Man’s weapon to take care of him. That should do the trick.
Charge Man doesn’t jump and will charge like a train. Just simply use the Stone Power and avoid him at all costs. He can be jumped over but it takes good timing. He cannot be hit when he has turned red.
Wave Man can be beaten with Charge Man’s weapon. Just be sure to avoid his water attack when it comes up and just simply use his weapon. The weapon mostly consists of sliding. This one is a bit difficult to get the letter E actually. It involves timing the jump right and if that can be done, you got the letter. If not, you can always replay the stage and try again.
Star Man can see the shield removed with water. It is his weakness and can be beaten that way using it. To get the second letter M, you would need to jump at a precise height because of the spikes. Star Man with Wave Man’s weapon is actually not that hard and can be beaten with ease.
Getting the letters though is another story and can be looked upon later in terms of specific hints on how to obtain them. If the letters are formed, then you get Beat in this game. The key to defeating the robot masters would be just to look at the patterns formed on attacks and then go from there.
