On Saturday, July 21 over a thousand Angelenos and their friends attended King Harbor in Redondo Beach, South Bay for the entertaining fundraiser gala for local non-profit Walk With Sally as part of the organization’s sixth annual White Light White Night event. In a sea of white, as guests, friends and sponsors from across the country sampled dishes from some of the South Bay’s best restaurants enjoyed flowing cocktails and fountains filled with premium Patron famous Ice Bar,. The evening also included a silent auction and proceeds went directly to Walk With Sally’s programs. Several restaurants donated their time effort and wonderful cuisine including Manhattan Beach’s Strand House, Hermosa Beach’s Hot’s Kitchen and Santa Monica’s Brick & Mortar, among many others. The event sponsored by Momma Mia Worldwide for the second year in a row,
“Each year, White Light White Night share the stories of of children in Los Angeles who get lost in the mix when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer,” says Nick Arquette, founder of Walk With Sally said the event gives those children a voice and charity funds existing and new friendships with mentors. With the support of our community, they have impacted those children’s lives during the last five years.
White Light White Night event in 2011 raised more than $150,000 for Walk with Sally’s mentor-ship program for children whose parents or siblings are fighting or have died from cancer. This years 2012 event was a smashing success. “This year, Walk with Sally’s goal was to raise $250,000 in order to serve the more than 200 children in Los Angele’s that could benefit from Walk With Sally’s mentor ship program. By next year, we hope to increase mentor relationships by 30% and open a new Walk With Sally center,” says Arquette. www.walkwithsally.org.
