Microsoft rolled out beta sign-ups for the fall 2012 update to the Xbox 360 dashboard that adds new features such as Internet Explorer, customization and more.
Update: It looks like the number of people signing up for the beta was overwhelming as Microsoft is no longer taking any applications after just a couple of hours.
In order to sign-up for the beta, potential applicants should head here to register. You will be asked to read over an NDA that encourages you not to blog, post pictures, screenshots or otherwise discuss what is in the beta with anyone, anywhere at anytime until the NDA is lifted. There’s also a short survey that asks about your internet service provider, how often you play games, how often you watch movies, etc.
If you do get into the 2012 Xbox 360 dashboard update beta, you’ll get an early preview of at least the following features.
- Internet Explorer on Xbox
- Pins to customize your Xbox dashboard
- Improved Security Features
Microsoft also announced other features at E3 this past June such as using Kinect motion and voice controls through every app on the Xbox 360 and SmartGlass. We assume the former is part of the Internet Explorer update but who knows about the latter.
