You can not hold on to something and surrender it. Now, in a completely relaxed meditation, give up this world, give up all desire. Supply is just as spiritual as integrity, loyalty, morality and honesty, but we can’t pray for the qualities because they are embodied in our consciousness or we are not pressing them into the fullest understanding. Supply finds its way out from within us; supply is something we express.
The question is to what extent do you wish to express these
It is not something that comes to us; it is something that goes out from us and then returns. The bread you cast upon the waters is the bread that comes back to you. The reason there are so many burnt fingers is because they are trying to place their fingers on bread that was cast out by others. It can’t come back to you unless you first send it.
It can be expressed spiritually
There are many examples given to us and one of them is by forgiveness. Not just for giving those who offend us, but if they offend our neighbor, they offend us, if they offend our country that are offending us, and if they offend this world in any way at all, they are offending us. We are all one and whoever offends one of us offends all of us.
“For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye?…Pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.”
Gratitude is an evidence of receptivity
The greatest way of casting our bread on the waters is through gratitude. Gratitude takes many forms. Sending a check to charity, through tithing gratitude is expressed by giving back to the Source from which you received your spiritual manna and comfort. When tithing becomes a bargaining point or deal, it loses its effectiveness. Care must be done to make sure that tithing is done in seeking a reward. Gratitude is not thanking God for anything that you have or that comes to you because there is no such thing as a God who only gives to a favored few, but for all. The reason why so many receive so little is has to do with their individual receptivity, and they can only prove the amount of receptivity by the amount of bread they cast on the waters.
The greatest is love
As you travel the path you will learn that you do not have health or abundance because of your own virtue of your own. Your supply is in direct proportion to your receptivity, to the degree of gratitude that you express in the form of bread placed on the waters as benevolence, forgiveness, or forgiving our enemies. The only measuring stick is how much love is given, how much cooperation, how much forgiving, how much tithing, how much secret praying and how much secret giving without drawing attention to one’s self.
